welcome to my blog! For those of you just visiting for the first time, welcome!   My name is julie weaver and I am a Southern California based photographer. I have been a professional photographer for the past 10 years and have specialized in weddings and portraits.

Having a family of my own, I understand the importance of capturing those little moments that seem to flash before our eyes....the quirky smiles, the scrunchy noses, the temper tantrums, the interaction that takes place between you and your child....and even those wonderful teenage years...it's priceless and gone before you know it!  I am THAT person who gets to capture those silly and precious moments that you love so much. That's why I absolutely LOVE my job!

Thanks for stopping by!

Friends are so important in my life...sometimes when I am feeling overwhelmed, it is nice to unwind with friends. Luckily, we have very good friends who live in our neighborhood, and it's very common for us to grab a babysitter to watch our kids (they love it!) and go downtown to our new favorite place, Casa 425 in downtown Claremont. It is such a great little boutique hotel to just hang out and relax! img_0870.jpg Aron, me, Kary and Tim img_0854.jpg This weekend I am doing some very sexy and fun boudoir shoots there...think Maxim. It's my Valentine's Day promotion!  It's not too late...I am taking appointments for next weekend, too!  Call me!  It's very classy (yet sexy) and soooo much fun!  I encouraged my clients who were interested to get some friends together to cheer each other on!  Even better, you already know me as your photographer, and this is another chance for us to hang out (NOT literally!!!) and have fun!!! Think:  Champagne w/ fresh rasberries, chocolate dipped strawberries, brie and crackers, more champagne...itunes.... lots of laughs...I can't wait to hear how their husbands or fiances LOVE their Valentine's gifts!!! Stay tuned, I may be able to blog some!!!

Last night I had my monthly PUG and had the incredible opportunity to have Robert Evans come and speak to our group about getting more time with the bride and groom before the ceremony and how to build a great relationship with them. He spoke about this same topic at Partner-Con in September which got rave revieiws. I had not yet heard him speak and it was great to have him in a smaller group setting & to hear how he evolved into the photographer that he is today! Thanks, Robert, for taking the time to speak at my PUG! You were awesome! pug1.jpg Marie Bunke, Patrice Gaspard-Nelson, Joanne Distasso, and Michael Lin pug2.jpg Giuseppe Guerra and Rodolfo Arpia pug3.jpg Tobey Leier and Renee Guerra pug4.jpg Michelle Johnson, Loretta, and Kimberly Saxelby pug5.jpg Robert Evans and myself! I wanted to share a really cool texture that I applied to one of my images.  It's fun to add a little texture to an image to make it more interesting, and just adding a few of these in an album design would look really amazing I think! What do you think? Before: blog_1.jpg After my Urban Texture: blog_2.jpg

Today I received an  email that made me laugh so hard! I wanted to share these hilarious comments and photos from none other than the infamous Olan Mills Studios....I remember when I was about 10 years old and our family had pictures done with Olan Mills and I thought we had hit the jackpot...how on earth could we have ever afforded to go there??!! here's a little hump day entertainment!!!  The comments by each image are not my own..I hope no one gets offended... ______________________________________ Drake won Bitchin'est Senior Mullet by a landslide. image003.jpg This dude wore a tie for nothing. image004.gif Olan Mills backdrop #4: Bucolic Meadow with Split Rail Fence. Is that an animal carcass behind her? image010.jpg A pose like this will get you kicked right out of the Convention. image011.jpg Olan Mills Backdrop #11: The Library, one of their most popular themes, as seen in this photo of the young Unabomber and his wife. image021.jpg You'd think Pearle Vision would throw in another two pairs for free. image025.jpg I got a 20 that says he drives a Camaro. image028.gif Someone spent money on this. image030.gif It's so cute when couples have matching hairdos image031.jpg She's looking for the speaker that's piping in 'Muskrat Love' so she can blast it with her laser eyes. image036.jpg

Oh my gosh! So funny! That cracked me up.... thanks! Now I know what I want to strive for in my career! ;)

Ryan:

Ooooh my. I'm laughing out loud right now, hard. Like if I was drinking milk it'd be coming out of my nose, hard.

(01.09.08)
Patrice:

LOL, I am actually laughing so hard that I am having an asthma attack.. Gosh, I am thinking about the awful photo my family had done there and how hard my kids laugh at it when they go to my parents home and see it. Good stuff!

(01.10.08)
Shannon:

You know what's funny (and sad)? I used to work at Olan Mills in high school...for a VERY brief period! It was horrible. These photos are funny. I can't even pick my favorite they are so bad.

(01.10.08)
Damion:

HAAA...that is so AWESOME!! The sad thing is I bet everyone has one of those family photos they could dig up in a heart beat!!

(01.11.08)
Shannon:

I have laughed and continue to laugh at these since the first of January when my beloved husband felt it was necessary to invade my inbox with them. I am a pro photographer by trade and my mother once held an Olan Mills club membership card and we were forced into that dark orifice of hell at least three times a year to have our pimples and bad hair captured for perpetuity on what might possibly be the most ridiculous backdrop ever to have been exposed to the public. The captions are what really makes this thing though. Whoever dreamed that up was either high as a kite or has an amazing sense of humor. Bucolic meadow? ROFLMAO - mirthful Lance? ROFL!!!

(01.13.08)
jeanette sanchez:

These are too funny, I laughed out loud reading the captions! Good post Julie!

carol:

These are hilarious....too bad you don't have the rest of the photos from that email posted. There were some good ones.
It made me crack up laughing my @$$ off!
If you want the email, let me know. I had to send it to everyone I know, cause it was that damn funny!

Wow, I thought I was going to post yesterday and the whole day got away with me.  I have been thinking a lot about my goals and if they are going to be realistic.  I know we all have very high expectations of ourselves and so I thought that I can start out with just 3 personal goals as well as professional and build more as I accomplish the ones I already made....little successes at a time! Professional Goals: Goal #1: Office Hours: Sticking to them! So, as I try and organize my day, I have given myself set “office” hours that I must work each day, as if I am working for somebody else (my alter-ego??!!). I realize that this may not always work, however, I am dedicated to my clients and want to continue to provide the best customer service possible to them. Goal #2: Album Designs: Make new samples I love all of my albums that I show to prospective clients, however, I need to refresh them with a few of my amazing events that i have done this past year. I am really excited for this goal, because I LOVE to be creative, and as soon as I get started, I know I will be up late at night way beyond my office hours making killer designs! Goal #3:    Expand my business:  New Product!  This last goal is a biggie for me!  My husband and I have had this new product in mind for almost two years and we are now actually ready to move froward with it.  It is photography related, however, it has nothing to do with wedding photography.  Until it is fully implemented, I will have to keep it under wraps, but I am SO excited to share with you as soon as we launch it!  So stay tuned!!! Personal Goals:  First, let me just show you a few very important people in my life that will be a huge part of my personal goals this year... My children, Kaitlyn and Cole.  They have filled our lives with so much happiness and love. blog.jpg My totally HOT husband, Aron!  How awesome that after 10 yeasrs of marriage I would still marry him all over again...minus the 90's wedding dress and cliche details...he has made me a better person and has been sooo patient at times!!! blog2.jpg blog3.jpg O.K...so I got a little sidetracked... I will post my personal goals tomorrow!  And thanks, Shannon, for your post about blogging more! I am really going to try!!!

Hey Julie, Your family is beautiful and you are totally on the right track for the year. I have similiar goals and I know how hard it is to keep our families number one! Congrats on all of your successes.

(01.07.08)
Shannon:

Thanks for the shout out!

But seriously, as long as I've known you, you have always told me you set goals each year. I can't wait to see what you accomplish this year. And you guys are killing me with the big secret.

I love that you think Aron is still hot after 10 years...you're pretty hot too! Maybe you guys should get married again...hmmm. And that's a GREAT photo of you guys.

Nicole:
