Today I received an  email that made me laugh so hard! I wanted to share these hilarious comments and photos from none other than the infamous Olan Mills Studios....I remember when I was about 10 years old and our family had pictures done with Olan Mills and I thought we had hit the jackpot...how on earth could we have ever afforded to go there??!! here's a little hump day entertainment!!!  The comments by each image are not my own..I hope no one gets offended... ______________________________________ Drake won Bitchin'est Senior Mullet by a landslide. image003.jpg This dude wore a tie for nothing. image004.gif Olan Mills backdrop #4: Bucolic Meadow with Split Rail Fence. Oh my gosh! So funny! That cracked me up.... thanks! Now I know what I want to strive for in my career! ;)

Ryan:

Ooooh my. I'm laughing out loud right now, hard. Like if I was drinking milk it'd be coming out of my nose, hard.

Patrice:

LOL, I am actually laughing so hard that I am having an asthma attack.. Gosh, I am thinking about the awful photo my family had done there and how hard my kids laugh at it when they go to my parents home and see it. Good stuff!

Shannon:

You know what's funny (and sad)? I used to work at Olan Mills in high school...for a VERY brief period! It was horrible. These photos are funny. I can't even pick my favorite they are so bad.

(01.10.08)
Damion:

HAAA...that is so AWESOME!! The sad thing is I bet everyone has one of those family photos they could dig up in a heart beat!!

(01.11.08)
Shannon:

I have laughed and continue to laugh at these since the first of January when my beloved husband felt it was necessary to invade my inbox with them. I am a pro photographer by trade and my mother once held an Olan Mills club membership card and we were forced into that dark orifice of hell at least three times a year to have our pimples and bad hair captured for perpetuity on what might possibly be the most ridiculous backdrop ever to have been exposed to the public. The captions are what really makes this thing though. Whoever dreamed that up was either high as a kite or has an amazing sense of humor. Bucolic meadow? ROFLMAO - mirthful Lance? ROFL!!!

jeanette sanchez:

These are too funny, I laughed out loud reading the captions! Good post Julie!

These are hilarious....too bad you don't have the rest of the photos from that email posted. There were some good ones.
It made me crack up laughing my @$$ off!
If you want the email, let me know. I had to send it to everyone I know, cause it was that damn funny!

Wow, I thought I was going to post yesterday and the whole day got away with me.  I have been thinking a lot about my goals and if they are going to be realistic.  I know we all have very high expectations of ourselves and so I thought that I can start out with just 3 personal goals as well as professional and build more as I accomplish the ones I already made....little successes at a time! Professional Goals: Goal #1: Office Hours: Sticking to them! So, as I try and organize my day, I have given myself set “office” hours that I must work each day, as if I am working for somebody else (my alter-ego??!!). I realize that this may not always work, however, I am dedicated to my clients and want to continue to provide the best customer service possible to them. Goal #2: Album Designs: Make new samples I love all of my albums that I show to prospective clients, however, I need to refresh them with a few of my amazing events that i have done this past year. I am really excited for this goal, because I LOVE to be creative, and as soon as I get started, I know I will be up late at night way beyond my office hours making killer designs! Goal #3:    Expand my business:  New Product!  This last goal is a biggie for me!  My husband and I have had this new product in mind for almost two years and we are now actually ready to move froward with it.  It is photography related, however, it has nothing to do with wedding photography.  Until it is fully implemented, I will have to keep it under wraps, but I am SO excited to share with you as soon as we launch it!  So stay tuned!!! Personal Goals:  First, let me just show you a few very important people in my life that will be a huge part of my personal goals this year... My children, Kaitlyn and Cole.  They have filled our lives with so much happiness and love. blog.jpg My totally HOT husband, Aron!  How awesome that after 10 yeasrs of marriage I would still marry him all over again...minus the 90's wedding dress and cliche details...he has made me a better person and has been sooo patient at times!!! blog2.jpg blog3.jpg O.K...so I got a little sidetracked... I will post my personal goals tomorrow!  And thanks, Shannon, for your post about blogging more! I am really going to try!!!

Every year at this time I find myself organizing my thoughts into what I want to do for the new year and how I am going to make them happen...my goals. It's always mind boggling to me because there are so many things I want to accomplish both personally and professionally. I stared thismorning off by making a daily agenda for myself and listing my professional responsibilities that I need to accomplish each day. Since I run my studio and office out of my home, I am often multi-tasking all day long while my children are at school and by the time I have to pick them up, I feel like I have not accomplished ANYTHING!!! Goal #1: Office Hours: Sticking to them! So, as I try and organize my day, I have given myself set "office" hours that I must work each day, as if I am working for somebody else (my alter-ego??!!). I realize that this may not always work, however, I am dedicated to my clients and want to continue to provide the best customer service possible to them. I am really excited for this goal, because I LOVE to be creative, and as soon as I get started, I know I will be up late at night way beyond my office hours making killer designs! I have more goals to share with you(both personally and professionally) but I have to run off to a consultation. Check back later as I post more! Have a great Saturday!

Well, this is going to be the very last post of the year, and what better to end it with than a fabulous wedding from La Venta?! Tom and Mireille together with their families had such a special and intimate wedding. Combining their Korean and Jewish faiths, it was quite interesting and even more fun to watch the evening unfold and integrate the two together in their cultures. Here are some great images that I thought would be fun to share with you! Killer ring shot: 0g9k7613-edit.jpg Tom, so handsome! 0g9k7656-edit.jpg Mireille, so elegant! 0g9k7799-edit.jpg During the ceremony while they were saying their own vows, there was not a dry eye in the audience, and it was tough for Tom and Mireille to get through it... 0g9k8193-edit.jpg 0g9k8235-edit.jpg Yo can actually read Mireille's vows. 0g9k8251-edit.jpg 0g9k8298-edit.jpg 0g9k8487-edit.jpg 0g9k8476-edit.jpg 0g9k8515-edit.jpg I absolutely LOVE this shot...i think it has a very modern feel to it. 0g9k8446-edit.jpg 0g9k8379-edit.jpg 0g9k8353-edit.jpg The p'ye-baek. This is a Korean tradition where the bride offers dates and chestnuts -- symbols of children -- to the groom's parents, while sitting at a low table filled with other symbolic offerings. The parents offer sake in return, and as a final gesture they throw the dates and chestnuts at the bride, who tries to catch them in her large wedding skirt. In the United States, the p'ye-baek is most often held at the reception, with the bride and groom in full Korean costume. It is usually a family-only affair, hosted by the groom's side. The throwing of dates and chestnuts is the highlight. Family members also offer gifts of money in white envelopes to the bride. 0g9k8524-edit.jpg Tom's parents were having so much fun throwing MANY dates into Mireille's skirt! 0g9k8569-edit.jpg 0g9k8684-edit.jpg The first dance: 0g9k8843-edit.jpg It's always a lot of fun to watch the dancing! 0g9k8874-edit.jpg Everyone really seemed to enjoy the evening, and Tom and Mireille's love for each other was evident throughout the night! Thank you for being so gracious and I wish you both the best in life! Happy New Year!

Most of you may not yet know, but I had been chosen to be the PUG leader for Claremont a couple of months ago! It's such an honor to have this title and responsibilty and I hope that it can grow into a great group of photographers who are eager to learn, network and share ideas about the world of photography! We meet once a month at my home in Claremont, and it (so far) has been invaluable! This month, instead of having a typical meeting, Pictage decided to get together for a holiday party! Last night I headed out to LA to join the OC and LA PUGS for some holiday fun! It turned out be a great night! It's always fun to socialize with other photographers...our lives are all a little crazy! Our Claremont PUG party will be next Tuesday, December 18th at The Yardhouse in Rancho Cucamonga! Don't miss out on the fun...you even get to invite a guest! I stole this image (with permission!!!) from Jules Biachi's blog because I was a dork and forgot mine!!! Thanks, Jules for taking so many fun pictures! Lauren Hillary, me, and Jules Bianchi pug02.jpg
